Uuno is working as campaign manager of a president candidate but accidentally Uuno himself becomes the president of Finland.

Against Anneli`s wishes, she and her family moves from big city Oslo to rural Kautokeino, up far North in Norway. There she meets Isak, and together with him she discovers something fishy is going on. They can`t trust the grown ups.

Eccentric small town librarian Helinä struggles between everyday life and her love for the theatre, directing amateurs for a play by the famous Finnish writer Aleksis Kivi. She still carries the torch for her teenage sweetheart Leo, now a married chimney sweeper but still an aspiring playwright, despite his wife's opinions. Helinä thinks Leo is Aleksis Kivi, and so does Leo himself. Discouraged by the society, they end up in a mental institution but finally manage to stage an outdoor premiere of the play.

While the protests included a wide range of people, among the most famous were the students who occupied major roadways for eleven weeks. Filmmaker Chan Tze Woon was both participant and witness, creating a deeply personal document of student protesters at street level.
